Terina Nicole is the designer and founder of Jypsea Leathergoods. Most recently, she co-founded The Creative’s Container with her 12-year old daughter (May 2017). The New Jersey native creates beautiful, bold, statement pieces for art & design lovers who enjoy expressing their individuality.
• Terina earned her degree in Accessory Design in NYC from the world-renown Fashion Institute of Technology in 2004, graduating Cum Laude.
• She worked in the corporate fashion industry in NYC as a technical designer for several footwear brands and clothing manufacturers.
• In 2008 during the financial collapse, Terina left the corporate design world after a series of companies she worked for went under. She gathered the works from 30 independent artists/artisans from around the country and established Down To Earth Boutique & Gallery in Suffolk, VA with her family.
• After leaving Corporate America, Terina freelanced for many indie fashion brands, taught fashion design throughout NJ, PA and NYC, and has published dozens of articles as a freelance writer for several art/fashion publications. She also authored a design book for emerging accessory designers, “ENVISION: The Young Accessory Designer’s Guide to Collection Developing.”
• Committed to growing as a creative, she earned a BA in Art from Thomas Edison State College in 2011 and a Masters in Art with a focus on Design & Craft from NJCU in 2015. She is capable of a bit of everything from shoe making, ceramics, packaging design, metalsmithing and furniture making, but specializes in leathercrafting.
• Terina uses her skills to bring a sense of luxury and history to the products and spaces she designs by combining the exotic with the discarded, giving new life to old objects. Because she never knows what she will find, she must rely on her vast knowledge of design and her creativity to craft one-of-a-kind/limited quantity products. This process makes each item as unique as it's end user.
Terina Nicole (formerly McKinney) Hill and the products of Jypsea Leathergoods have been featured in: HGTV’s Flea Market Flip, Upscale Magazine, Philadelphia Magazine, Essence Magazine, Huffington Post, ABC News, The Today Show, BET’s Queen Boss, and other national and local media outlets.
